Melissa established MD FLORA in 2017, offering floral design and production for events, weddings, corporate gatherings, life celebrations, and brand content creation in San Diego, CA. In 2023, Melissa is now a freelance administrator that assists non-profits with fundraising, operations, and branding while also occasionally freelance floral designing.

Melissa currently resides in the Lake San Marcos community, just north of San Diego, CA and originally a San Jose, CA native. Since 2010 she has made herself at home in North County San Diego with her husband and their little girl.
Her college years were spent at California State University, Chico where she received her BA in Art with emphasis in Ceramics and Printmaking and minor in Art History.
After many years working in customer service, visual merchandising, museum education, non-profit development, and event coordination, Melissa embraced her love for service and design and founded MD FLORA to create memorable experiences with layers of meaning and intention for her clients.
